- Work alongside physicians, midwives, anesthesia, NICU, and other clinical specialists.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
- Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments.
- Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, maternal status, and labor progression.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including high-risk cases.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments according to established protocols.
- Recognize and respond quickly to changes in maternal or fetal condition and obstetric emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide education, emotional support, and guidance to patients and families.
- Promote patient safety, breastfeeding, newborn bonding, and positive birth experiences.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Take on Charge Nurse responsibilities as needed.
Job Requirements:
- BSN required; MSN accepted.
- 1+ year of Labor & Delivery RN experience required.
- Experience with high-risk obstetrics preferred.
- Strong maternal and fetal assessment skills
- Excellent clinical judgment and critical-thinking abilities
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to evidence-based nursing and professional growth
Required Credentials
- Active New York State RN License
- BLS – American Heart Association
Additional Certifications May Include
- NRP
- ACLS
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- AWHONN fetal monitoring education/certification
- Other specialty-specific certifications
